Traveling to Mankato

Visitors to Mankato will enjoy all that Mankato has to offer. Situated on the Minnesota River, and home to Minnesota State Unviversity, Mankato, the city has activities and events year round to keep everyone entertained.

Mankato’s historic Old Town district will transport visitors back to the town’s roots, to it’s settlement and designation as a county seat in 1853. This area features not only history, but also modern establishments like restaurants and shopping, mingled with the 19th century buildings.

The Mankato Convention and Visitor’s Bureau offers tours for small and large groups, and can accommodate events like family reunions. The tour itineraries range from the "Fun for Everyone" tour, which includes attractions to please visitors of all ages, to the "Step Back in Time" tour which gives visitors a view into the rich history of the Mankato area.

Festivals and events are also a great reason to visit Mankato. Each year Mankato hosts the Mahkato Pow-Wow, which has been held in the area since 1972. The pow-wow features Native American dancers in regalia, traditional music, foods, and crafts.

History Fest is also an exciting event in Mankato, and is a weekend of hands-on fun and recreation for the whole family. There is a multitude of events including Civil War reenactments, fire eaters, belly dancers, canoeing, carriage rides, and more.

For sports buffs, the Minnesota Vikings call Mankato home for preseason training, and traveling to Mankato to see them ensures you’ll see the newest recruits and talent, before the regular season begins.

If you are planning a convention, Mankato is an ideal business setting in which to hold your conference. The city is home to a number of venues, which ensures there will be one to fit your needs, like the Verizon Wireless City Center Convention Campus.

The City Center Convention Campus offers exciting accommodations, as well as nightlife and entertainment for after hours. It’s also conveniently located in downtown Mankato, making it easy for your guests to access it.

The Verizon Wireless Center is a versatile meeting space, with options like a 6,500 seat arena, a banquet/exhibit hall, conference rooms, and a historic reception hall. If you’re looking for a smaller venue, local hotels, including the City Center Hotel, AmericInn Hotel and Conference Center, and the Country Inn and Suites all offer meeting spaces.

If you require something more unique for your event, Bethany Lutheran College overlooks the heart of Mankato, while the Mankato Golf Club overlooks manicured fairways and lush grounds. The Old Main Village, registered on the National Registry of Historic Sites, features an elegant dining room and club room.
